World Icons: Osama Bin Laden

Some of you may ask, "Why do you honor a terrorist with an obituary? I thought this was an entertainment site?"

Well, yes, this is an entertainment site. But don't forget that Osama bin Laden has provided us with enough spoof and satire material to entertain us for a decade. He is apparently one of the world's most recognizable bearded faces, on the same rank as Jesus Christ, Che Guevara, and Santa Claus. That alone qualifies him as a world icon.

Okay, here's a little-known fact you may not know about Osama bin Laden. He's a poet. Well, his works may not be good enough to win him a posthumous Nobel Prize for Literature, but my point is, Osama is a smart man. Sure, his acts may be barbaric, but he is not a barbarian.

We can only assume he's read every book there.

So while the rest of the white world rejoices by placing an X mark on his face and splashing it on the cover of Time Magazine, we at Da Couch Tomato bow our heads and offer a minute of silence for a great video game villain. Well, maybe thirty seconds of silence will do. Make that ten. Anyway, we're done.
